Construction Notes

This top is worked flat in turned rows, starting from the center top of the triangle and increasing outward.

The lace pattern is built by repeating two main pattern rows until the desired triangle size is reached.

Step 1: Center Setup Row

Ch 4, join with sl st to form a ring.

Work into the ring:

Ch 6, tr into ring

Ch 4, tr into ring

Ch 2, tr into ring

Ch 4, tr into ring

Ch 2, tr into ring

This creates the base lace structure for the triangle.

Turn.

Step 2: Row 2

Ch 6

7 tr into first ch-4 space

Ch 2, tr into center opening

Ch 2, 7 tr into next ch-4 space

Ch 2, tr into 4th chain of turning chain from previous row

Turn.

Step 3: Row 3

Ch 6, tr into first space

Ch 4, tr into same space

Ch 2, 3 tr into the center 3 stitches of the 7-tr section (stitches 3, 4, 5)

Ch 2, tr into center tr

Ch 4, tr into same stitch

Ch 2, tr into same stitch

Ch 4, tr into same stitch

Finish the row mirroring the beginning.

Turn.

Step 4: Row 4 (Pattern Row A)

Ch 6

7 tr into next space

Ch 2, tr into center of previous 3-tr group

Ch 2, 7 tr into next space

Ch 2, tr into center space

Finish the row symmetrically.

Turn.

Step 5: Row 5 (Pattern Row B)

Ch 6, tr into first space

Ch 4, tr into same space

Ch 2, 3 tr into center of 7-tr group

Ch 2, tr into single tr from previous row

Ch 4, tr into same stitch

Ch 2, 3 tr into next 7-tr group

Ch 2, tr into center tr

Ch 4, tr into same stitch

Ch 2, tr into same stitch

Ch 4, tr into same stitch

Finish symmetrically.

Turn.

Step 6: Repeat Pattern

Repeat Row 4 and Row 5 until triangle reaches desired size.

The last row should always be Row 5 (Pattern Row B).

Example: Total of 35 rows.

Step 7: Edge Finish

Work around the edge:

Ch 6

9 tr into next space

Ch 1

Sc into center of 3-stitch cluster

Ch 1

9 tr into next space

Repeat across the edge.

At the center point of the triangle, work 1 tr into the center space.

Then, work single crochet (sc) evenly along the bottom edge of the triangle to create a clean, finished border.

Fasten off.

Step 8: Tie Cord

Make a long chain cord for styling:

Ch until cord measures approx. 57 inches

Optionally tighten each chain stitch with your thumb for a firm cord.

Use this cord to style the top in different ways (halter tie, neck wrap, cross-front, etc.).
