⸻
Measurements
• Neck circumference
• Bust circumference
• Desired body length (from underarm to hem)
• Armhole depth (optional, for more precise fit)
⸻
Step 1: Yoke Split Formula
Measure your neck circumference.
Use this split:
• Front = 30% of neck circumference
• Back = 40% of neck circumference
• Each shoulder = 15% of neck circumference
Example (Neck = 13.8 in / 35 cm):
• Front = 35 × 0.30 = 4.1 in / 10.5 cm
• Back = 35 × 0.40 = 5.5 in / 14 cm
• Each shoulder = 35 × 0.15 = 2.1 in / 5.25 cm
⸻
Step 2: Foundation Chain (Open Front Construction)
This design has an open front, so the front section is not included in the foundation chain.
Foundation chain length = Neck circumference − Front section
Example:
13.8 in / 35 cm − 4.1 in / 10.5 cm = 9.7 in / 24.5 cm
Make a chain that matches this length, then distribute stitches like this:
Shoulder – Raglan – Back – Raglan – Shoulder
Example in stitches:
9 – 1 – 15 – 1 – 9
⸻
Step 3: Yoke (Rows 1–7)
Work in dc, turning rows.
Raglan increase = 3 dc in the raglan stitch
Work raglan increases only at the back.
No front raglan increases yet.

⸻
Step 4: Front Raglan + Front Edge Increases (Row 8-19)
From Row 8, start raglan increases on the front.
From Row 9, also increase at the first and last stitch of each row (rows 9-19).

⸻
Step 5: Join Sleeves (Row 20)
Sleeve & Yoke Fit Guide
The sleeve shape and armhole size are created during the yoke stage.
Before joining sleeves, check:
• The yoke should reach just below the armpit
• The arm opening should feel comfortable, not tight
Approximate yoke depth:
• XS–S: 7–8 in (18–20 cm)
• M: 8–9 in (20–23 cm)
• L–XL: 9–10 in (23–25 cm)
More rows = larger sleeve opening
Fewer rows = tighter sleeve
When yoke depth feels right, join sleeves:
Work to the first raglan center stitch, start a dc, do not finish it.
Work a dc into the next raglan center stitch, then yarn over and pull through all loops (dc2tog-style join).
Repeat for the second sleeve.

⸻
Step 6: Body Shaping
Body Width Adjustment
After joining the sleeves, check the front opening and overall bust fit.
The front panels should comfortably cover your bust, leaving a small gap for ties (recommended gap: 2–4 in / 5–10 cm).
If the front feels too narrow:
• Increase at the beginning and end of each row
• Continue until desired width is reached
Find the center under each arm.
In shaping rows, make 2 decreases on each side of the underarm
(= 4 decreases per row total).

Work as many rows as needed for your length (Example: 10 rows).
Finish with 2 rows without decreases.

⸻
Step 7: Neckline
Work 3 rows in dc around the neckline.
⸻
Step 8: Edge Finish
Work sc around the entire edge.
• At curved bust areas: decrease (sc3tog) to smooth the curve
• At corners: 3 sc in one stitch to shape the angles

⸻
Step 9: Ties
Attach yarn and make a tight cord:
Chain to desired length, tightening each loop with your thumb.
Example: 85 ch per tie

⸻
Finishing
Fasten off.
Weave in all ends.
Steam lightly if needed (do not overheat wool).
Option 2: Long Sleeve Ruffle Version
Follow Steps 1–6 as described in Option 1.
⸻
Materials
• 100% cotton yarn (664 yd / 608 m, 14 oz / 400 g total)
• 6 mm crochet hook
⸻
Step 6: Body Adjustment (Modified)
After joining sleeves:
Work decreases on both sides (as in Step 6),
but every other row instead of every row.
Work as many rows as needed for your length
(Example: 11 rows total).

⸻
Step 7: Base Edge
Work sc around the entire edge.
• At corners: 3 sc in one stitch
• At bust/raglan areas: use sc3tog decreases to smooth the shape

⸻
Step 8: Ruffle (Body)
Turn your work.
Row 1
Work dc in BLO, increase in every stitch
Row 2
Increase every other stitch
(Continue for more volume if desired)

⸻
Step 9: Sleeves
Attach yarn at the center underarm.
Work in turning rows:
• Decrease 1 stitch at the end of every other row
• Continue until desired sleeve length
Example: 27 rows total

⸻
Step 10: Sleeve Ruffle
Work 1 row of sc evenly around the sleeve edge.
Row 1
dc in BLO, increase in every stitch
Note:
Since you are working in turning rows, the “back loop” may appear on different sides.
Work into the loop that creates a clean ridge on the outside (right side) of the piece.
Row 2
Increase every other stitch
Row 3
Increase every 2 stitches
(Adjust depending on how dramatic you want the ruffle)

⸻
Step 11: Optional Contrast Ruffle
Attach yarn to the front loop left from the first ruffle row.
Repeat the same increase pattern.
• On sleeves: make slightly longer
• On body: same length or adjust as desired

⸻
Step 12: Ties
Neck ties:
Chain to desired length, tightening each stitch to create a cord

Body lacing:
Create openings along both sides:
4 sc, skip 1 stitch, ch 1 → repeat
Make one long cord (approx. 240 ch)
Lace criss-cross like a corset

⸻
Finishing
Fasten off
Weave in all ends
Steam lightly if needed
