Materials

• 5 mm crochet hook

• Cotton yarn (approx. 1 skein)

• Measuring tape

Stitches & Abbreviations (US terms)

ch — chain

sl st — slip stitch

sc — single crochet

dc — double crochet

Sizing & Measurements

Measure your head circumference to determine the required crown diameter.

Standard adult sizing:

• 21–22 in (53–56 cm) → crown diameter: 6.5–7 in (16.5–18 cm)

• 22–23 in (56–58 cm) → crown diameter: 7–7.5 in (18–19 cm)

• 23–24 in (58–61 cm) → crown diameter: 7.5–8 in (19–20.5 cm)

Construction Notes

This beanie is worked in turned rounds using double crochet stitches.

The crown is worked flat in a circle with increases.

The body is then worked without increases in a mesh pattern with integrated 3D flowers.

Step 1: Crown

Start with a magic ring.

Round 1

Ch 2 (counts as first dc)

Work 11 dc into ring (12 total)

Join with sl st

Tighten ring

Turn.

Round 2

Ch 2, turn

2 dc in each stitch around

Join

Round 3

Ch 2, turn

1 dc, 2 dc in next stitch repeat around

Join

Round 4

Ch 2, turn

2 dc, 2 dc in next stitch repeat around

Join

Continue increasing this way, adding 1 stitch between increases each round, until you reach the required crown diameter.

Example: 5 rounds total.

Step 2: Mesh Body (No Increases)

Row 1

Ch 2, turn

Ch 1

Skip next stitch

Dc into next stitch

Ch 1, skip 1 stitch, dc into next stitch repeat across

Join with sl st into turning chain

Step 3: Flower Row

Ch 2, turn

Work mesh pattern as before.

After 3 mesh cells, create a flower:

How to Make the Flower

After completing 3 mesh cells:

Ch 1

Insert hook into the top of the last dc (edge of the mesh cell) and make sc

→ this creates a small ring

Petals (5 total)

Petal 1 & 2

• ch 2

• 1 dc into ring

• ch 2

• sl st into ring

Petal 3

• ch 2

• 1 dc into ring

• ch 2

• sl st into ring from the opposite side of the center bar

Petal 4 & 5

Repeat Petal 1


After completing the flower:

Dc into the next stitch to continue the mesh pattern

Repeat:

3 mesh cells → 1 flower

Continue across the row.

Note:

At the end of the row, spacing may vary slightly. You can either leave it or adjust by placing flowers closer together.

Join with sl st.

Step 4: Next Row (Mesh)

Ch 2, turn

Work full mesh row (no flowers)

Step 5: Offset Flower Row

Repeat flower row, but place flowers between previous ones (staggered layout).


Step 6: Repeat

Alternate:

• 1 mesh row

• 1 flower row

Until desired height is reached.

Example: 7 rows total.

Step 7: Edge Finish

Two options:

Option 1: Shell Edge

Work on the right side.

Skip 1 mesh space

Work 5 dc into the next mesh space

Skip 1 mesh space

Sl st into the next stitch

Repeat around.

Option 2: Clean Edge

Work single crochet evenly around.


Fasten off and weave in all ends.
