Materials
• Cotton yarn
• Crochet hook suitable for your yarn
(I used a 5 mm crochet hook.)
• Glass vase
• Yarn needle
• PVA glue
• Plastic bags

• MR — magic ring
• ch — chain
• sl st — slip stitch
• sc — single crochet
• dc — double crochet
• tr — treble crochet
• dc2tog — double crochet 2 together

Construction Notes
This vase cover is made by joining crochet motifs of different sizes.
The number and size of motifs will depend on the size and shape of your vase.
Arrange the motifs however you like to create your own unique design.

Motif Construction
Round 1
Magic Ring.
Work 8 sc into the ring.
Join with a sl st.

Round 2
Ch 2 (counts as first dc).
Work:
• 1 dc into the same stitch
• ch 2
• dc2tog into next stitch
• ch 2
Repeat around.
Join with a sl st.

Ch 2.
Work:
• 1 dc into the first ch-2 space
• ch 2
• dc2tog into the same space
• ch 1
• dc2tog into the next ch-2 space
• ch 2
• dc2tog into the same space
Repeat around.
Join with a sl st.

Work:
• 5 dc into first space
• sl st into next space
Repeat around.
Stop here for a Small Motif.

Round 5 (Medium Motif)
Ch 4.
Work:
• 1 dc into the 3rd dc of the shell
• ch 2
• 1 dc into the same space
• ch 2
• 1 dc into the next joining point
Repeat around.

Ch 2.
Work:
• 9 dc into the triangle space
• 1 dc into the next stitch
Repeat around.
Stop here for a Medium Motif.

Round 7 (Large Motif)
Ch 5.
Work:
• 1 dc into the 5th dc of the shell
• ch 3
• 1 dc into the same stitch
• ch 3
• 1 dc into the next stitch
Repeat around.

Ch 2.
Work:
• 10 tr into the triangle space
• 1 dc into the next stitch
Repeat around.
This completes the Large Motif.

Vase Assembly
Crochet motifs in different sizes.
Make as many motifs as needed depending on the size of your vase.
Example shown:
• 3 Large Motifs
• 1 Medium Motif
Arrange the motifs into the desired composition, creating a piece large enough to cover the edges of your vase.
If you’d like an asymmetrical shape, place the motifs on the vase while arranging them so the edges fall exactly where you want them.
Turn the motifs wrong side up.
Using a yarn needle, sew the motifs together through the back loops of the outer stitches.
As the piece grows, continue placing it over the vase to check the fit.
Sew additional sections together or add more motifs until you’re happy with the final shape.

Stiffening & Shaping
Create a stable stand using household objects.
Place your vase upside down on top of the stand and cover it with a plastic bag.
Line a deep container with another plastic bag.
Pour in the PVA glue.
Wet the crocheted piece with water and squeeze out the excess.
Completely soak the crocheted piece, making sure both sides are fully saturated.
Place the piece over the upside-down vase and shape it as desired.
Allow the edges to drape below the vase.

Leave the piece to dry for 24 hours or longer, until completely hardened.
Carefully remove the piece from the shaping form.
Insert your vase inside.
