Materials

• Yarn of your choice

• Crochet hook suitable for your yarn

• Scissors

• Yarn needle

For this version, I used:

• Lion Brand Wool-Ease yarn (9 skeins, 6 oz / 170 g each)

• 10 mm crochet hook

Abbreviations (US terms)

ch — chain

sc — single crochet

dc — double crochet

tr — treble crochet

sl st — slip stitch

Notes

• This jacket is worked top-down with raglan increases, in turned rows.

• The entire piece is worked in dc.

• Flowers are worked directly into the fabric — no sewing required.

• Approximate spacing between flowers: 5–8 dc.

• Do not place flowers directly on raglan increases — shift 1 stitch to the side.

• Keep flower placement mirrored on both sides of the jacket.

Step 1: Foundation Chain

Measure your neckline circumference and add about 2 in / 5 cm for the edging.

Make a foundation chain using this formula:

6 × n + 5

Example:

47 stitches

Step 2: Raglan Setup

Subtract 4 stitches for raglan lines:

47 − 4 = 43 stitches

Distribute stitches as follows:

• Front — 30%

• Back — 40%

• Shoulders — 15% each

Example:

Front: 14 sts (7 + 7)

Back: 17 sts

Shoulders: 6 sts each

Layout:

7 – 1 – 6 – 1 – 17 – 1 – 6 – 1 – 7

Step 3: Row 1

Work dc across the entire row.

No increases.

Turn.

Step 4: Row 2

Begin raglan increases and flowers.

Pattern:

5 dc – flower – 5 dc – flower …

Place flowers in every 6th stitch (5 dc between flowers).

Do not place flowers directly on raglan increases — shift 1 stitch to the side when needed.

Work all 4 raglan increases.

Turn.

Step 5: How to Make the Flower

After working the required dc before the flower:

1. Work 5 dc

2. Ch 1

3. Insert hook into the top of the 5th dc and make sc

→ this creates a small ring

Now work 5 petals into the ring.

Petal 1 and 2

• ch 2

• 2 dc into ring

You can adjust the texture of the flower by using 1 dc (flatter look) or 2 dc (more volume).

• ch 2

• sl st into ring

Petal 3

• ch 2

• 1 dc into ring

• 1 dc into the ring from the opposite side of the center bar

• ch 2

• sl st into ring

Petal 4 and 5

Repeat Petal 1

Example: 1 dc per petal

Example: 2 dc per petal

Then continue the row.

After each flower, skip 1 stitch and continue with dc.

Step 6: Row 3

Work across in dc.

In the flower sections, work tr into the stitch of the previous-previous row (Row 1).

Work raglan increases.

Turn.

Step 7: Row 4

Flower row.

Work flowers the same way as in Row 2.

Place new flowers around the previous ones (to the left and right side).

Spacing: approximately 5–7 dc.

Keep placement mirrored on both sides.

Do not place flowers on raglan increases.

Work raglan increases.

Turn.

Step 8: Row Repeat

Continue working:

Row 5 = Row 3

Row 6 = Row 4

Row 7 = Row 3

Row 8 = Row 4

Example:

I worked 8 rows total for the yoke.

Continue repeating if you need a larger size.

The last row should be a flower row.

Step 9: Join Sleeves

Work to the raglan line.

Work a dc decrease into the center stitch of the raglan increase.

Skip the sleeve stitches.

Work the second part of the decrease into the next raglan increase.

Repeat for the second sleeve.

Step 10: Body

Continue working in pattern:

1 row with flowers

1 row without flowers

In the first body flower row, leave the underarm area without flowers.

Distribute flowers evenly across the body.

Example:

Rows 10–16

Finish with a non-flower row.

Step 11: Edging

Work all rows from the right side.

Row 1

Work sc around the entire edge.

Corners: 3 sc in one stitch

Row 2

Work sc around

Along the neckline, make 7 decreases evenly (every 6–7 stitches)

Row 3

Repeat Row 2

After each corner increase, move 1 stitch forward

Make 6 more decreases along the neckline

(If your stitch count is different, divide evenly and make 5–7 decreases total.)

Step 12: Sleeves

Join yarn at the center of the underarm.

Work in turned rows.

Start with a non-flower row (wrong side).

Alternate rows:

1 row without flowers

1 row with flowers

In the first flower row, do not place flowers in the underarm area.

Then distribute flowers evenly.

Example:

3 flowers per row

Work to desired length (I worked 19 rows).

Finish with a non-flower row.

Repeat for the second sleeve.

Step 13: Sleeve Edging

Work 3 rows of sc.

In Rows 2 and 3, make decreases every 4–5 stitches.

(If your stitch count is different, divide evenly and make 5–7 decreases total.)

Finished

Fasten off and weave in all ends.
